GEL Technology for Reliable Deep Cycle Power
BUILT FOR DEEP CYCLE
GEL battery technology is one of the two main routes inside the VRLA (Valve-Regulated Lead-Acid) family. Sulfuric acid electrolyte is blended with high-purity fumed silica and immobilized into a gel that solidifies inside the battery by the end of production. The electrolyte therefore exists entirely in gel state: no free acid, no leakage and no water top-ups over the whole service life.
Compared with AGM construction, the liquid-rich gel does not stratify. Discharge stays stable through repeated deep cycles and capacity does not fade under partial state-of-charge operation - exactly why GEL is the preferred deep cycle battery technology for solar storage, UPS, telecom and motorcycle applications.
INSIDE A GEL BATTERY

KEY ADVANTAGES
No Free Acid, No Leaks
The gelled electrolyte is held in a three-dimensional silica network, eliminating free sulfuric acid. Spill-proof, sealed and truly maintenance-free in any mounting position.
No Acid Stratification
Gel stops the electrolyte from separating into density layers, so every deep cycle keeps stable capacity and the plates avoid premature sulphation.
Partial Charge Tolerance
GEL batteries retain rated capacity under partial state-of-charge duty - a critical advantage for solar and wind systems that rarely reach a full charge.
Long Deep Cycle Life
High-tin low-calcium alloy grids, a gel-specific PVC-SiO2 separator and a liquid-rich electrolyte reserve deliver more deep cycles than comparable AGM designs.

Tubular positive plates in gel electrolyte: the longest deep cycle life in our storage range for solar farms and critical UPS.
WHY GEL BATTERY?
Why choose GEL over AGM for deep cycle duty? Both are sealed VRLA systems, but the electrolyte behaves differently. In an AGM battery the acid is absorbed by a glass mat and runs close to starved. In a GEL battery, fumed silica immobilizes the electrolyte while keeping a liquid-rich reserve. That reserve is why gel does not stratify, why it cycles deeper and longer, and why it tolerates partial state-of-charge operation without progressive capacity loss.
Combined with high-tin low-calcium grids and a PVC-SiO2 separator designed for gel systems, this chemistry turns into dependable deep cycle power across five product lines: GEL SMF motorcycle batteries, 12V deep cycle batteries, 12V front terminal batteries, 2V long life batteries and OPzV tubular GEL batteries.
